New Year Greetings

BlogBlog 2021

Well let’s be positive and look forward to a better year ahead of us, at this point not sure how long it will be to get back to some kind of normality but thankfully the vaccines are starting to roll out worldwide. Let me begin by wrapping up 2020:

The Masters

As we all commented it was a strange feeling to play without the patrons, but hey the Masters is the Masters so when that invitation arrives you accept it! The week started off with some great well wishes from my friends at Renault/DP World F1

Carrying on with fun I am having designing trousers again I wanted to bring some color to Augusta National even when it’s not in full bloom and one of the mornings even had a matching breakfast!

Got up Thursday morning knowing we would have a weather delay & boy did it hit for a while, through with the amazing sub-air system they have at Augusta National we were soon underway but the course played long and soft for the whole week which did not favor me to be honest. First rd. I hit 12/14 fairways and 13/18 greens but played the par 5’s poorly so a 72 was not the best start.

3 more rd.’s of 71/71/70 ended up T25 which was very disappointing but looking forward to returning again in April.

RSM Classic

Really a continuation of the previous week, a T50 and not really much more to say on the week. Really pleased to see the announcement between @europeantour and @pgatour just before the season ending DP World Championship. This opens opportunities for both sides in commercial strategies and working closer together. Will also offer a lot more playing options which will grow in strength.

DP World Championship

I really enjoy playing the Middle east courses and have had some good finishes so was looking to close the year on a high. Continuing with my 2nd career as a fashion designer I also showcased the latest designs…….

Started off poor but got in going in rd.’s 2 and 3 only to drop some silly shots towards the end which dropped me down a tight leaderboard resulting in a T43. One fun part of the week was returning to my hotel room to have this on the bed cover, very nice touch.

I have to mention my good friend @westwood_lee, winning the Race to Dubai at the age of 47 is quite some feat and give us older guys the power to keep grinding and complete against these young power players coming through.

So I finished the year 48th in the world rankings which could have been better but considering the strange year we had to deal with I will take it.

Christmas & New Year

This really is the best time of the year for spending time with the family, even more so with the restrictions so we just spent it at home with a traditional Christmas turkey. Over the holidays we visited the art exhibition of @jefre_artist, he really creates some amazing works.

Of course the holidays would not be complete without receiving the magical invitation from Augusta National. Otherwise we closed the year quietly and woke up to a Ryder Cup year, can’t ask for more incentive than making that team with wearing a green jacket!

Starting preparing for the new season with time on the range and the studio as well as fitting in @carsandcoffeecfl

Albany & Birthday

Before my birthday we all went down to Albany on the Bahamas for a few days, also great place to practice before heading off to the Middle east for the 3 week swing of the European tour and get some Ryder Cup points in the bag.

Thank you to all of you that sent me birthday greetings, impossible to reply to all but on the occasion of my 45th birthday I reached 500k follows on Instagram.

Time to hit the road again for my 21st season on tour and of course it’s Ryder Cup year.

Until next time!
