BlogBlog 2019

Penning my blog from my home in the UK before heading back across the pond for the kids to get ready for back to school. It’s been a funny old month with highs and lows, thankfully the high coming at the end!

Irish Open

Started nicely and faded over the next 3 days to finish T41. Wonderful golf course and the crowds were amazing. For this trip I decided to put together outfits representing the national and sponsor colors, below was my Ireland outfit.

Scottish Open

Solid performance after last week but too many putts missed in a low scoring event ending up T14. Had the pleasure of playing with Harry Kane – England football captain and Spurs players which for a die-hard Arsenal such as myself was an experience! All joking apart we had fun and he has a good game driving it 350 yards off the first tee!

I continued with my colour theme by wearing tartan through the week.

On the Saturday I met George Groves – one of the English disabled players sharing the lead in @edgagolf Scottish Open. Sunday paired with Justin Thomas – what where the chances of us both wearing lilac trousers

The Open

Gutted to say the least… Brilliant golf course, it set up well for me this week, but only converting one 1 putt birdie through wasn’t going to work. Along with 2 bogies and doubles was not going to get it done.
Haven’t had the pace of the greens the last 3 weeks, no excuse as had plenty of time to get used to them.
In the 2nd round, 2 under through 8 holes and looking good until lost ball right of 9th fairway, 3 minutes goes quick before trotting back to the tee for another go! Loved the support of @theopen fans, you are the best!

WGC Fed-Ex Memphis

Before flying over I really grinded on the range after the disappointment of the Open. I also picked up some new stylist color shoes from @footjoy to match up with my new design tartan trousers.

First day unfortunately made the news I had a run in on the 18th with a spectator that resulted for him being removed from the property. Do not want to go in details and prefer to discuss more positive subjects but it’s happening more often and normally we just ignore it and let it go. So on a positive note! 8th was a good result after a disappointing run in Europe.
Which bounced me back in the world ranking to 34 after dropping down to 40th. So, after a 4-week run, spent a week off just relaxing and had the opportunity to visit @mclarenf1 Zak Brown and Nick Martin. I have a huge respect for the level of detail and work they do to make the cars so perfect, just look at James Hunt’s F1 car from the 1970’s!

Currently sitting at 58th in the Fed-Ex Cup heading into the play-offs, the 1st being the Northern Trust in Jersey City NY. We will pack up the house in the UK after the summer holiday and the family will spend the week with me in New York flying over Monday. The following week is the BMW Championship in Chicago at Medinah where I have great memories from a certain famous event back in 2012. Need a big push to get into the Tour Championship for the first time in my career.

Until next time which will be back over to Europe for the closing race to Dubai events.
