February Blog

BlogBlog 2020

As you know we moved back into the house end of last year, I updated my memorabilia cabinet during the holidays and looking forward to adding more this year. Also, nice to put together my new shirts and trousers for the coming season.

It’s a long flight to the Middle East so took the time to work on designing my @auraelifestyle card and asked you folks to send in suggestions. Expect to finish this by the end of February and designs used will receive some signed items from me. Those of you that entered hope you had fun coming up with some ideas

So, I set off for the Middle East, entering my 22nd season having played 557 events at the age of 44. My goal this year is to make the Ryder Cup team and hunt Majors. I want to thank all of you for your continued support in keeping me driven. It has certainly been a month for those of us over 40 – more of that later.

HSBC Abu Dhabi

Excited to start the season at a course that I generally play well. No excuses but the game was rusty after the Christmas break and I missed the cut, nothing more to say. Congratulations to the old dog @westwood_lee 46 years YOUNG and showing the pups life left in the old dog yet. A lot of respect, we played together the first 2 days and a lot of laughs.

Omega Dubai Desert Classic

Better than last week, making a T20 finish but just a touch off through the game felt better. Last round dance with @jimenezgolf, our pairing was a 100-years old and we have danced with a certain CUP a few times as well. With our caddies we were over 200-years old, thankfully we did not shoot 200 in that wind on the Sunday!

Saudi International

Strong field this week and along with the wind scoring was a lot more difficult than last year. Again, few silly mistakes resulted in another T20 finish. Not that start I was looking forward to the beginning of the year but I feel good and the results will come soon. Happy 18th Aimee, I could not be more proud of how amazing she has turned out, she is stubborn and strong-minded like her old man and would say I have met my match. She has worked incredibly hard and is super driven. Where did those 18 years ago…

The last two tournament Sundays have been ‘old boys’ – week before was @jimenezgolf, this week with @philmickelson, a little younger pairing of 93 years!
For the 2nd time in 3 weeks one of us ‘over 40’s’ entered the winners’ circles – congratulations @graeme_mcdowell, give me the motivation to succeed!

Family Time Skiing

So, after 37 hours of travel finally arrived at @yellowstone in Montana. This place is just incredible and a perfect location to spend family time, nothing beats this, miss them when I am on the road so much. We had some epic days in the mountains with some serious snow fall.

So I planned to play the WGC in Mexico but unfortunately I dropped down the ranking & missed out as first reserve, just gives me more resolve to play better, flip side is I get another week at home with the family and start with the Honda next week, Arnold Palmer & the Players so 3 great events coming up.

Until next time
